Final Project: Expressions of Color

This is my final project. In my project I tried to create a 3D scene based on a 2D non-representational oil painting I had done. Based on its conception, I could see this work being shown in the gallery screen printed on a large canvas. It would also be cool to have this space physically created so one could literally walk through this abstract landscape. However it's shown, it was created and based on a piece that is 5 square feet and I can't imagine it being shown any smaller than that. In the creation of this piece, I used many techniques we have recently learned including the displacement modifier, texture painting and use of the depth of field node.

Project 1 updated: Suffocation

In my updated version of project one, I positioned the figure in a way that makes him look more desperate for help and like he is actually falling down into the hole. I also added a charcoal texture, which is something I originally didn't like but after working with the texture, I really like how it turned out.

Project 1: Suffocation

This is my final image for project 1. I had many different camera views and figure positions but I felt that this image yielded the greatest emotion.

Project Update 1

Well I have a solid idea and have a pretty good start on the project. I am encompassing my modeling by juxtaposing a real life image with one that I modeled. Here are some reference images I used in coming up with my idea (if you want to know what it is, I can explain it to you in person...too much to write out) and here is a few images depicting my model so far. I have learned to create an armature and pose my model so I'm really excited about that.

Better Texture Render On My Bulbs

I downloaded a more advanced metal texture and I like the look of it much better on my bulbs.

Light Bulbs

So I had some problems with placing my modeled light bulbs onto a background image but for now here is an image of two light bulbs I modeled. One being on and the other off.

At Home Render

I put my giraffe in an African background with a nice ground shadow. I couldn't figure out how to install Yafray to blender so I wasn't able to get as clean of an image but I can figure that out in class tomorrow.

In Class Assignment

Here is a garbage can on the sidewalk.

Giraffe

I used the mirror modifier to create this symmetrically sound giraffe.

Textured Buckeye Fruit

Much more realistic.

Second Array

This is my second attempt at arrays and with the use of texture and a more interesting starting shape I think this one turned out much better than the first.

Weekend Homework Part 2

I had an idea to model my eye contact solution bottle. This was way easier than modeling my dog and I feel that overall it turned out much better.

Weekend Homework

For my free project over the weekend I wanted to model something more organic than the screwdriver we created in class so I decided to model my dog.

Screwdriver

HOORAY for learning how to color!

T-Pipe

A more simple tutorial that I actually followed the entire way through.

Mantis

I started following a tutorial for fun. I kinda branched off on my own within the first minute or two. I basically just tried to get down the 3d build up using the front and side views. It took way too long, hopefully I'll get faster. Later, I might add more but I'm very happy with how it turned out in comparison to the monkeys (not to mentions it's something I created).

More Exploration and Learning Interface

Slightly better but still laughable.
